Are the Just Words of Actions?

Praise the Lord.

Another phrase we hear a lot.

How many times have you heard a speaker come to the pulpit and say “Praise the Lord, saints” and after you response they say “Say it like you mean it”

Do You Act or React?

Sing praises unto the Lord.

Ever notice that the person that says “I sing praises unto the Lord” and starts singing can’t carry a tune?

Ever notice how the congregation reacts?

What is your reaction are you offering encouragement, clapping, singing along or is your head bowed down so no one will see you laughing?

Are they Just Words or Actions?

Praise ye the Lord.



How many times are we asked to do this?



I don’t mean in church but in the bible.

Black Friday

This is “black Friday” a day where we are to get up before the crack of dawn to wait in long lines at the door of stores that will be opening at 5 or 6 a.m. for us to shop for ‘incredible’ prices. I am usually at work, but today I have been granted the day off. I have to tell you it felt good to roll over and go back to sleep with a “Thank you Lord” on my lips, in my mind, and on my heart. No I didn’t get up to stand out in the cold with thousands of others with either the day or morning off from work. It intend to stay indoors there is no need for me to venture out the Lord blessed me with a day of rest and that is just what I plan to do.

Thanksgiving

Today is the day when millions of people will remember to “Thank God” for all that they have, they will stop for a time (right before they eat) to count their blessings. How many of us I wonder will remember to “Thank God” tomorrow, or the next day or the next. In fact how many of us having been thanking Him all year thus far for the things He has done and for blessings our lives. I confess that I too have slacked on occasion; got up and went about my day without taking just those few seconds it takes to say “Thank you Lord”.

Quench not the Spirit

Quench means;
to put out or extinguish, to subdue, destroy,
overcome, to suppress, squelch

Not means;
deny, refuse, in no way, to no degree

The is used to specify a person or a thing

Spirit means;
the vital principle in humans, the soul,
a divine inspiring influence.

In Everything Give Thanks

for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

... to make petition, to give thanks, and to Praise the Lord ...

Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.

... O God our Savior; gather us and deliver us ... that we may give thanks to you holy name ...

... those chosen and designated by name to give thanks to the Lord, ...

Pray without ceasing

"Save me I pray Oh Lord"
"Pray to the Lord for ..."
"The time for me to pray for you has come"
"I will pray to the Lord"
"Forgive me my sin I do pray"

As the question in Deuteronomy 4:7 asks when we pray
What other nation is so great as to have there gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to Him?

Rejoice Evermore

Deuteronomy 12:12
There in the presence of the Lord your God, you and your families shall eat and shall rejoice in everything you have put your hand to , because the Lord God has blessed you.


Whereever you are on whatever day it may be, when you are gathered together, all be glad and take delight in His presence. Exult His name, fill with joy and thanksgiving that place for everything He has done in your lives to bring you to this point in time.

My two cents: To be glad, feel joyful, take delight, be delighted; henceforth at all future times, everlastingly, always, continually, forever, eternally because of Him.

I Thessalonians 5

10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Which person ceased to live in order to obtain us, to a great extent or degree, regardless if we become aware or careless and unalert, we ought to pass life in a specified manner in a condition of unity in the keeping or service of Him.

My two cents: Is this a question that ends in a statement?

I Thessalonians 5

9 For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because God has not equipped us to vengeance or punishment as the consequence of anger, but to come into possession of deliverance from the power and penalty of sin by Our Lord Jesus Christ.

In other words, just because you're saved doesn't mean you can't or won't get mad. But because you are saved don't speak or act in a moment of anger, remember to call on Him who is able.

My two cents worth: For me just saying His name is enough to make me pause, it also keeps other thoughtless hurtful words from leaving my mouth.

Remember: The power of the tongue.

I Thessalonians 5

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmut, the hope of salvation.

Only because we, that are a part of those assigned to a particular purpose, continue to be temperate, placing as to be a protection the armor of faith and love; and for a covering of our minds, the hope of salvation.

I Thessalonians 5

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

As a result we will not allow or permit ourselves in no way to be inactive, to the extent for instance that we take advantage of God's Grace as others not long past have done; on the contrary, we will come before His presence in order to see or learn something, we will wait attentively and expectantly, at the same time continue to be free from excess, showing self control.

I Thessalonians 5

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of the darkness

We are His son's and daughter's radiant, having understanding and knowledge that we are in a period of power; in no way to no degree are we in a time of ignorance or sinfulness, nor do we lack enlightenment of wickedness or evil.

Take the Garbage Out

1. Recognize what's garbage; something who's use has ended, inaccurate or useless data, worthless relationships

2. Relocate the garbage; you can't keep it where it is because its blocking the way, and
God can't come in

3. Reposition yourself away from the garbage; remove yourself from smelling distance

4. Don't reflect on the garbage; don't keep thinking about it and worrying over it

5. Refuse future garbage pickups; after you've been delivered don't look back in bitterness look forward to becoming better

Remember: Take the garbage out of your mouth, mind, motives and ministry.

We each of us though we fear and love the Lord our God, trust and believe in Him, and have made established a convenant with Him.


We all have had times moments on occasion have forgotten who we are now and became who we were.


Be thankful we serve an understanding and forgiving God.

Priorities

I Timothy 6:7
For we brought nothing into this world,
and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

We spend a large portion of our time on this earth,
accumulating stuff.
Why?
To what end?
When we seek after {to gain} material things.
We become obsessed;
with having it,
wanting it,
until we believe that we need it,
can't live without it.
We forget about {turn our backs on} God.
That is until we find ourselves in a pit
of our own making
that we can not climb out of
Then we remember;
who He is,
what He can do,
and we call on Him.
We want to hold Him to His promise,
Never to leave us or forsake us.
Funny how we don't remember our promise to Him,
That we will place Him first above all others {things}.

Wait

But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.

Job 23:10



Job is said to be a man great faith, who feared the Lord.

But Job,

yes even Job,

had questions.

Because he did not understand why?

He sought answers.

But he knew not to go looking for them.

He waited on the Lord.

The measure of your Faith

These have come so that your faith (of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire) may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. I Peter 1:7





How do you measure faith?


What is the yard stick?


When do reach that point, when you know it is strong?


Where can you find confirmation?


Why do you know?

A Promise

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. I Corinthians 10:13

How comforting is that, to know that God will be there when you are tempted. If you listen you will even hear His voice when He offers you that way out. I can testify to that, let me tell you about it. I went to a fundraiser, afterwards the group that I was with wanted to go out drinking. My thought, "I haven't been out in a long time. This could be lots of fun. We've been having a good time so far. I can go, I can do this, I won't drink." God's voice, 'Go home. Where they are going is right on your way. Do you not have things to do? Do you not have some place you need to go in the morning? Go home.' I had my ride drop me off at home, no matter how many times I was asked, no matter the peer pressure that was applied, no matter what I stood firm.

Gratefullness

Every day is a gift.


Every day wake up and Thank God for it.


Every day acknowledge God's Grace.


Every day accept with thanksgiving and praise that


God's granted another chance to get it right.

Anger

You are sooooo mad

Think


"Help me Holy Ghost"


over and over in your mind until


your lips unclamp and the words that tremble


on the tip of your tongue for release


"Thank you Lord"

Knowledge

I've always been told



that the Lord will send people to you



So whenever someone asks me to help



them do something



I always say "Yes"



thinking they would no have come to me



if the Lord had not sent them my way







But wait



if helping them



means that I can not do what



the Lord has charged me to do



can I still believe that the Lord



sent them my way?

Just Talking

If you want to testify

but can't think of anything to say,

but you want to say something

just say

"Thank you Lord"



If you want to sing to the Lord

but don't know all the words

sing the words you do know

it's still Praise



If you're in a situation and don't know

what to do

how to handle it

what to say

just call on Him that is able

A Prayer for Forgiveness

Psalm 51 (New Century Version)

1 God, be merciful to me because you are loving. Because you are always ready to be merciful, wipe out all of my wrongs.
2 Wash away all my guilt and make me clean again.
3 I know about my wrongs, and I can't forget my sin.
4 You are the only one I have sinned against; I have done what you say is wrong. You are right when you speak and fair when you judge.

6 You want me to be completely truthful, so teach me wisdom.
7 Take away my sin, and I will be clean. Wash me and I will be whiter than snow.

9 Turn your face from my sins and wipe out all my guilt.
