Sundays message: The sin of Job

Job refused to admit his sin against God.
He considered himself clean without transgression, innocent, there was no iniquity in him. He told his friends how upright and righteous a man he was, how he feared the Lord.

He questioned Why me? What have I done?

This was after everything had been taken from him. His children, land, cattle, money, home and health. He did not understand why God continued to punish him when he had done nothing wrong.

Elihu a young man, who had listened to Job bemoan his fate and his friends who could not come up with an answer as to why, spoke up. He gave Job the answer as it had been revealed to him by God.

God was punishing him for his wickedness (sin). Job justified himself rather than God. (c35 v13)

Had he looked to God and not his friends, he would have found the answer to his questions. That God is greater than any mans pride.

He did acknowledge the Lord and his power and repented. (c42 v2-6)
He was able to say afterwards, I sinned but God let me go.
(will we be able to? or can we now say the same?)

Know that "....., He who is perfect in knowledge is with you." (c36 v4) Always.
