Philippians 3:14 Paul says;
I press toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ.
I - this is an individual goal.
Press - you are to push through and pass circumstances and people that stand in your way, in spite of trials and tribulations.
Mark - the point of victory, the place you are trying to reach.
Prize of the High calling - santification, righteousness, the gift of
The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5) pressed her way through a crowd of people to get to Jesus, for her prize the stopping of her flow of blow, healing.
Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10) pressed his way to Jesus by calling out to him, when the people told him to hold his peace he cried out even louder, for his prize he received his sight immediately.
The man with palsy (Mark 2) with the help of friends/family? pressed his way to Jesus in spite of the crowd of people by uncovering the roof and being let down into the room on a bed, for his prize forgiveness of his sins and rising from that bed to walk.
These are not only examples of Pressing toward the Mark for the Prize, but also of undoubting faith in the Power of Jesus Christ. They each knew that if they got to Jesus he could heal them, just by touching his garment, just by answering when his name was called, just by being in his presence.
In Philippians 3:13 Paul advises us to forget what is past, left behind, what once was and to reach toward, for that which is coming, that is before us, in living life according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
There is hope
